Young Film Makers Groups

Our young film makers groups, established across Suffolk, encourage young people to come together to share the experience of film making in their area.  Our first group, the Sudbury and Great Cornard Young Film Makers (SAGCYFM), began in 2008, and has seen many members go on to college and university media courses, and even employment in the film and TV industries.

Our young film making groups allow young people to engage themselves through film making - attending workshops, using professional equipment, and even producing their own films for clients.

The young filmmakers really helped me get to where I am now. Without them I would not have had any film experience that I needed to have in order to apply to university.  Not only was it film based skills, but I also made new friends and improved my social skills working with different groups of people.
— Ryan Bartrop, Channel Four Campaign Operations Executive

As well as film making workshops, the young film makers have created commercials, promotional films, and have even won a handful of awards for their films at the Suffolk Live Well Oscars.  The videos below are just a small example of the young film makers' creativity.

Without the young film makers I have no doubt that I wouldn’t be where I am now. The group gave me the opportunity to explore all areas of film/TV and find one that best suited me. I would not have had this same opportunity elsewhere, and it’s something I feel is invaluable. From developing short films to producing cinema commercials for well-established clients, I could not have hoped for a better starting block.
— Daniel Newman, BT Sport Floor Manager
